History
In 1985, a group of 11 local citizens recognized that elderly residents of Boxford needed retirement housing at an affordable price. A survey was conducted which confirmed the group's belief and the Boxford Friendship Foundation was born.
Four Mile Village is a perfect example of neighbors helping neighbors. It has served as a model for communities all across the country in similar circumstances.
Management and Operation
Oversight of Four Mile Village is provided by the Boxford Friendship Foundation, Inc.
The daily operation is managed by Bethany Community Services, Inc. Both are non-profit
organizations with similar missions:
to provide options that are affordable to citizens of Boxford for housing, programs and services.
Applying for Residence
Applications for residence at Four Mile Village are available to those aged 60 and older.
Priority is given to those that meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Current or former resident of Boxford
- Parent of a Boxford resident
- Child of a Boxford resident
- Grandparent of a Boxford resident
- Brother or sister of a Boxford resident.
